The recent closure of Bieber Transportation has created an opportunity for one small, local business looking to meet the needs of commuters heading into Manhattan to work.
Advantage Chauffeur Services, a transportation company based in Macungie began a new service into New York City today.
“Even though we only have one van right now, we are prepared to purchase another within a few months of regular ridership to accommodate different time slots,” said Darla Malik, co-owner. “We just started it when we heard about Bieber unfortunately closing their doors.”
The company uses a 14-seat passenger van to provide commuters service directly to the Ninth Avenue Port Authority bus terminal in New York City, she said.
The company will start with a 4:20 a.m. departure time from the PennDOT Wescosville Park and Ride on Hamilton Boulevard in Lower Macungie Township. Malik said if the company does not see strong demand for that time slot, it would switch to a 5 a.m. departure. The pickup time from New York City is 5:45 p.m. The fee is $29 each way.
The van is a 2017 Ford Transit HD van that allows passengers to stand upright inside, she added.
It includes a luggage rack in the rear.
Advantage Chauffeur began in 2007 and has seven employees, she said.
Her husband, Ashfaq Malik, is the co-owner and served as a corporate chauffeur for Lutron Electronics when he was a chauffeur for another firm.
