Tina Q. Richardson
Penn State Lehigh Valley
Responsible for the campus’ strategic and financial leadership, Richardson oversees all functional areas, ranging from academic affairs and athletics to public safety and capital projects.
Working with dedicated, intelligent educators gives her the most satisfaction. “Being able to collaborate with them, as well as our community partners, to align our goals and bring all the right resources to this campus so that we can maximize student growth and opportunity — that is what brings me the most joy.”
She counts numerous mentors, including family members from her hometown of Lanham, Maryland. “And when I attended college, I had the opportunity to meet Dr. Janet Helms, who became my very first mentor in higher education. Collectively, I have learned the importance of developing my voice and the importance of leadership.”
Richardson advised, “Find out what it means to stand on the shoulders of those who trailblazed before you … . Also, build networks of support around your passions, talents and hard work, and boldly develop your unique voice without being afraid to transform the world around you through the practice of inclusive excellence.”
