You get nowhere in business by yourself.
That was one of the big messages delivered Tuesday night by Mike Albarell and Mike Caruso, two of the Hall of Fame honorees at Lehigh Valley Business’ fourth annual Business of the Year awards at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks in Bethlehem. Albarell is president of Albarell Electric Inc. of Bethlehem and Caruso is chairman of National Penn Insurance in Allentown.
Also at the event, attended by more than 400 professionals, INetU (100-plus employees), Eastern Engineered Wood Products (36-100 employees) and Ideal Concepts (1-35 employees) emerged as the top winners of the night – being named businesses of the year.
“If you think you can achieve success without the support of others, you can’t,” Caruso said as he talked about the many people who share in his success. “This award is mine today, but yours tomorrow.”
The Business of the Year awards are designed to give for-profit companies and executives recognition for creating jobs, contributing to the community and bolstering the region economically.
Other awards at the event went to Netizen Corp. as the Emerging Business of the Year and Victaulic as Corporate Citizen of the Year.
R. Chadwick Paul Jr., president and CEO of Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Northeastern Pennsylvania, also was presented as a Hall of Fame honoree. Jay Sidhu, chairman and CEO of Customers Bank in Wyomissing, was the Executive of the Year.
“Events like this bring out a sense of community for the business community,” Paul said. “We are celebrating the community when we do things like this.
