As construction nears completion, Berks County developer Alan Shuman, is providing the names of some of the tenants that will be occupying one of his latest retail developments, Lancaster Avenue Plaza in Reading.

Latinos in the Berks County area will soon have a new resource for job readiness training. The Berks Latino Workforce Development Corp., a nonprofit that will provide workforce development training for Latinos, is projected to begin providing services in the spring of 2020. 

Alvernia University is expanding into downtown Reading. The university has entered into a letter of intent agreement for a location at 401 Penn St.

AmeriHealth Caritas Pennsylvania, a Medical Assistance (Medicaid) managed care plan serving Central and Northwestern Pennsylvania, plans to open a community wellness center in Reading. The center aims to help residents overcome social, economic and environmental barriers to their own health care.

The Morgan School, billed as an upscale daycare, held a ribbon cutting on Oct. 29 to celebrate the new institution’s opening at 6120 Perkiomen Ave. in Exeter. The 6,300 square foot facility aims to focus on clients in the Exeter, Mt. Penn, Daniel Boone, Amity and Pottstown areas.

A former automotive dealership in Reading will be transformed into a mixed-use retail shopping center with the aid of an almost $3 million dollar tax credit. 

Goggleworks Center for the Arts and Sly Fox Brewing Co. will partner to open The Den restaurant on the GoggleWorks campus, located at 201 Washington St. in downtown Reading.

Alvernia University will offer students the opportunity to gain experiential learning opportunities from six local executives during the 2019-20 academic year through a newly expanded Executive-in-Residence Program.

Alvernia University has received a $2.3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education under the Strengthening Institutions Program. The program is designed to help colleges expand their capacity to serve low-income students by strengthening academic quality and fiscal stability.
