Cauliflower is an in-demand vegetable right now. You can get cauliflower pizza, cauliflower hot wings, cauliflower rice and now, thanks to Bethlehem’s Just Born Candies, you can also get cauliflower-flavored Peeps.

Similar to the annual Peeps diorama contest held for New Year’s Peepfest each year, the authority has organized its first-ever Peeps Meet Diorama Contest in partnership with Joanne Dennison of The MeetGuide.

Because of production delays caused by the company’s manufacturing shutdown during the COVID-19 crisis earlier this year it has decided it won’t be putting out any specialty peeps or other candies this year so it can concentrate on its biggest holiday – Easter.

“Our people stepped up to the plate,” Ross Born, CEO of Just Born said. “We didn’t skip a beat. I did not hear, ‘Well, we can’t do that.’ There was a can-do attitude of ‘We will figure out how to do that.”

Just Born of Bethlehem, maker of PEEPS and other popular candies is extending its voluntary production suspension through May 3.

Bethlehem’s Just Born has now decided to close its production facility through at least April 7 to help stop the spread of COVID-19.

Just Born, which manufactures PEEPS and Mike & Ikes in Bethlehem said it will continue operations, while adjusting to extra precautions because of the coronavirus.

Just Born Quality Confections, the candy manufacturer headquartered in Bethlehem, widely known for its PEEPS chick, a glittery candy-coated marshmallow confection, will descend a bright yellow illuminated PEEPS chick for the new year's countdown.
