Drivers passing through a busy stretch near Cabela’s in Berks County will soon have a new pit stop to make for fuel and food before heading onto Interstate 78.
Kinsley Construction Inc. of Wyomissing is building a Rutter’s store at the intersection of Route 61 and Grand Street in Hamburg.
It will be the first Rutter’s in Berks County and the 65th for the York-based convenience store chain, said Jack Hoy, business development executive for Kinsley. It also will be the first Rutter’s in the Greater Lehigh Valley; its other locations are in southcentral Pennsylvania.
So far, the company has no further expansion plans into the Greater Lehigh Valley.
“As of this year, it doesn’t look like we will have any [more] stores there yet,” said Kirsten Dickason, marketing coordinator for Rutter’s. “We are not 100 percent sure how much more we will go in there. We just like to try out new territories and see how we go in that direction.”
The Hamburg store will have 7,800 square feet of retail space, 14 gasoline fueling positions and four dedicated diesel positions.
Work is scheduled to be completed in September.
Hoy declined to disclose the construction cost.
