The Bayou Boys Hospitality Group, the restaurateurs who brought the Bayou to Bethlehem and Grain to downtown Allentown, now have their third restaurant up and running.
This one is Queen City BBQ, which held a grand opening Oct. 3 in the former home of Shula’s Steak House in the City Center development on Seventh Street, Allentown.
Queen City BBQ is billed as a lower-cost dining option than Shula’s, aiming for a younger and broader crowd than the now-closed Shula’s.
It has a barbecue-focused menu, full bar and outside seating at the entrance to Allentown’s ArtsWalk.
It’s the second barbecue style restaurant to open in the downtown in recent months. The Sugar Hill Jazz House opened on Ninth Street in July.
The former Shula’s isn’t the only restaurant space with a new tenant in City Center. Crust, a coal-fired pizza restaurant, closed recently, but a new tenant has been found.
99 Bottles, which describes itself as “American style, coal-fired comfort food, craft beers and whiskey” on its Facebook page, is setting up shop there.
Details on the opening are expected to soon be released.

Central Pennsylvania-based Rutter’s has opened its 65th location, in Hamburg – the first for the convenience store chain in Berks County.
“We have had many requests from customers about bringing a store to the Hamburg area,” said Derek Gaskins, Rutter’s chief customer officer. “… Its location right off Interstate 78 will also provide easy access for commuters.”
