California-based burger franchise BurgerIM will open in mid-September in a spot vacated by Potbelly Sandwich Shop at 3215 Schoenersville Road in Bethlehem.
The site is in a strip mall, Schoenersville Centre.
BurgerIM, created by Israeli native Donna Tuchner, opened the first BurgerIM in Tel Aviv in 2011, according to a news release. The name combines the primary menu item, burger, and the Hebrew suffix im, meaning “many.” An investor brought BurgerIM to Southern California in 2016 and the franchise has been growing since. The gourmet fast food restaurant offers a “create-your-own” experience with a menu of mini burgers, slightly bigger than sliders as well as larger options. Ingredients are comprised of 10 different types of patties, including lamb, falafel, salmon and veggie along with a host of topping options.
Scott Horner and Derek Zerfass of Colliers International’s Upper Macungie Township office represented the property owner, Hartzell-Bethlehem LP Scott Hartzell on the deal.
Zerfass said he and Horner are the leasing agents for that strip center.
As of December 2017, Zerfass said he and Horner started marketing the space.
This would be the first location in the valley for the franchise, he added.
The owner chose the site because it offered good daytime traffic and visibility, he added.
Potbelly Sandwich Shop, a Chicago-based sandwich shop franchise, opened its first location in the region in 2015 at the future BurgerIM site.
