MRC heading to bigger office in Upper Macungie

A nonprofit organization that has been helping manufacturers since 1988 is on the move.

By next month, Manufacturer’s Resource Center will move from its suite in Hanover Office Plaza, a four-story building on Marcon Boulevard in Hanover Township, Lehigh County, to a new office in Upper Macungie Township.

The move should take place around June 20, said Jack Pfunder, executive director of MRC. The new office building is farther west, near the intersection of Route 100 and Interstate 78.

Pfunder said the new space at 7200 Windsor Drive would offer more room for training and be closer to some of MRC’s clients who travel from Berks, Schuylkill and Carbon counties.

The space also is larger, Pfunder said: 10,000 square feet, compared to about 5,400 square feet at its current space.

“We have large training programs going on now, to the point we need two rooms big enough to handle it,” he said. “We also have a simulated factory, so I think that’s helped us quite a bit with our lean classes.”

Lean manufacturing focuses on manufacturing practices that minimize waste.

MRC connects manufacturers to training opportunities, professional development programs and knowledge-sharing events and helps them navigate industry challenges.

The nonprofit, which focuses on small to mid-sized companies, also provides training on new food-safety regulations, offers a maintenance certification program and also concentrates on areas on process improvement, workforce development, supervisor boot camps and the Manufacturing Leadership Institute.

Cindy McDonnell Feinberg, co-owner of Feinberg Real Estate Advisors in South Whitehall Township is the broker who found the space for MRC.

Feinberg said she represented both the tenant and the property owner, Windsor Properties LP, in the lease transaction. The 22,000-square foot office building on Windsor Drive has two other tenants, Feinberg said.

Feinberg said the nonprofit looked at a number of properties over more than a year, including some industrial buildings. She also helped MRC land at the Hanover Office Plaza five years ago when it moved from the Goodman Campus at Lehigh University.
