Ross and Wendy Born will be honored later this year by the Eastern PA Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals with the 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award.
“We have so many super generous individuals in the Lehigh Valley who’ve spent a lifetime not only giving funds but giving of their time and talents,” said Sharon Alexander, AFP chapter president. “We all know how much [the Borns] do in the community and how many organizations they support.
Ross Born is co-CEO of Bethlehem-based candy maker Just Born Inc. along with his cousin, David Shaffer. Alexander said Just Born also has a strong reputation for supporting the region’s nonprofit community.
She said Ross Born is on many board of directors of community organization and provides expertise in marketing and other business skills to help them succeed.
Wendy Born has served on the boards of United Way and Congregation Keneseth Israel and has been board president of the Jewish Community Center, the Jewish Federation and Jewish Family Service.
Alexander said the leadership and generosity the Borns have shown over the years has served as an example to others.
The husband and wife will be honored at a National Philanthropy Day event at DeSales University Nov. 13.
At the event, the AFP will also be honoring other businesses, professionals, volunteers and organizations that help raise money for community organizations.
Nominations are being accepted in categories including Outstanding Business Award, Outstanding Volunteer Fundraiser Award, Outstanding Youth in Philanthropy Award, Outstanding Foundation Award, Outstanding Fundraising Executive Award and Outstanding Philanthropist Award.
