The winner of the 2013 Societas Award for responsible corporate conduct was announced this afternoon at an award ceremony at DeSales University. The honoree of the award is Jaindl Corp. of Orefield.
Competing against two other finalists, Fitzpatrick, Lentz & Bubba, and Prudential Patt, White Real Estate, Jaindl Corp. was honored for demonstrating responsible corporate conduct in terms of legal compliance, corporate and individual accountability, commitment to stakeholders, and social responsibility. Along with winning the award, Jaindl will receive a one-year corporate membership to the Forum for Ethics in the Workplace.
The ceremony kicked off with a luncheon and was attended by about 150 people before the nominees were announced.
Kevin Flemming, president of Integrity Personnel, introduced last year’s honoree, Gerald A. Nau, chairman and CEO of Lafayette Bank. Nau delivered a heartfelt speech about the importance of this award before introducing three DeSales students to announce the nominees and their successes that led to their nominations.
The winner, Jaindl, was chosen by an independent panel of judges using quantitative data from a numerical scoring method developed by DeSales’ MBA Program Director, Dr. David Gilfoil.
The Forum for Ethics in the Workplace is a nonprofit, wholly-owned subsidiary of DeSales University that seeks to provide opportunities for people to come together for study, reflection, conversation, and action on ethical issues in the workplace.
“I didn’t think that I would be standing here today, but I’m grateful for receiving this award,” said Jaindl during his acceptance speech.
