The Greater Reading Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s will honor more than 60 businesses at its 11th annual Greater Reading Top Businesses and the Greater Reading Entrepreneurial Excellence Awards on June 2 at its 103rd annual dinner at Santander Arena in downtown Reading.
The theme this year is Inside Perspectives: Platform for Prosperity.
Ann Compton, an award-winning journalist for ABC News who spent more than 40 years covering the White House, will be the keynote speaker.
The top business of the year and top emerging entrepreneur awards are up for grabs. For the last two years, Triose Inc. of Shillington has taken home the top business award, and CertaPro Painters of Reading the top emerging entrepreneur award.
Fifty business will be recognized in the top business category and 15 with the emerging entrepreneur award.
More than 800 guests are expected to attend the event. In addition to Compton, there will be an appearance by a surprise guest, the organizers said.
Compton is expected to offer a rare view of the West Wing, the behind-the-scenes power struggle during a hot news cycle and how controversies are handled, spun and reported. Compton will draw from her career and share her observations about current events, the people shaping the future and what lies ahead in the 2016 presidential race. She will take questions about current events and people making headlines.
The event begins with a networking reception and dinner at 5 p.m. The program begins at 6:55 p.m.
Tickets cost $150 and are available through the chamber at 610-376-6766 or its website at www.GreaterReadingChamber.org.
