A long-time Fogelsville surveying and engineering firm will be growing now that it has been acquired by JHA Companies, a northern Pennsylvania-based engineering firm with six offices in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
JHA acquired the office after being approached by Bill Beitler, the owner of Beitler Land Surveying and Engineering, who founded the firm in 1977.
He was looking to retire and have someone else take over the reins of the office. Meanwhile, JHA was looking to expand into the Berks, Lehigh, Northampton, Schuylkill, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties, where Beitler focuses its business.
“It really helps drive our client base, both geographically and in industries we serve,” said JHA’s George White, who has taken over as office leader of the Fogelsville office.
He said Beitler will still provide consulting on an as-needed basis and that the rest of the staff remains.
“It’s the same team here, we’re just adding the additional services that are provided from the other offices,” White said.
White said the Beitler name will be used for now, but the company eventually plans to transition away from it as customers become more accustomed to the new name.
White said it also plans at least two new hires. The office is looking for a survey technician and a civil engineer.
JHA is headquartered in Montrose in Susquehanna County, near the New York border. It is a full-service civil engineering and land surveying firm, licensed to do business in Pennsylvania, New York, Ohio and West Virginia.
