Patrons can now enjoy dinner while they watch a movie at the new Fox Kitchen & Bar that recently opened inside the Fox Berkshire Theatre in Wyomissing.
Customers can dine on meals prepared in a full kitchen while they recline in one of the 425 luxury recliners with tray tables in the screening rooms or in the lounge.
The kitchen is part of the $3.5 million expansion and renovation to the eight-screen Fox Berkshire Theatre on Berkshire Boulevard. The theater with its iconic tower was built in 1994.
In addition to the kitchen and upscale bar, the project included the addition of four auditoriums covering 10,000 square feet. The theater now has a total of 1,170 seats.
The kitchen prepares made-to-order hot and cold food, such as appetizers, gourmet pizza, grilled burgers, sandwiches and wraps and desserts, and can serve more than 2,000 moviegoers a day.
Fox Theatres leased the building to Carmike Cinemas in 1996, and resumed ownership and management of it in 2012. Donald Fox has said attendance has tripled at the Fox Berkshire since he bought it back from Carmike, according to news reports.
Fox Theatres also owns the Fox East in Exeter Township. The Fox Berkshire is the only movie theater in Berks County equipped with a full kitchen and bar for in-theater dining.
