CVS Pharmacies expands COVID-19 testing in Pa. to 27 sites

CVS Health is expanding its self-swab COVID-19 testing to 27 pharmacies across the state starting Friday, including Harrisburg and Bethlehem.

The tests will be offered at its pharmacy drive-thru locations.

The Woonsocket, Rhode Island-based pharmacy announced the roll out of testing sites at its drive-thru locations on April 27, starting with nine locations including one at 550 North Progress Avenue, Harrisburg. The additional 27 sites are part of a larger nationwide expansion, the company said in a press release.

“As we move into a new phase of combatting the pandemic and as communities begin to safely open up their local economies, we need testing to be easily accessible,” said Dr. Troyen Brennan, chief medical officer and executive vice president at CVS Health. “By further expanding the number of drive-thru test sites available across our retail network, more people can be tested closer to home in a familiar setting.”

Patients can schedule appointments online starting Friday. Upon finishing the self-swab, the tests are taken to an independent lab and can take up to three days for processing, the company said.

New testing locations include: 5001 Jonestown Road, Harrisburg and 2434 Catasauqua Road, Bethlehem.
