T.W. Cooper Insurance of Coopersburg said it acquired Smale Stover Insurance Agency in Sellersville.
T.W. Cooper acquired all of firm’s assets, including its book of business and three employees, said Leo Carlin, vice president of T.W. Cooper Insurance. He declined to disclose the acquisition cost.
“Their employees are going to stay with us,” Carlin said, noting that T.W. Cooper would not cut any positions. “Their book of business fits into our niche and who we are. We’ve grown both organically, and through acquisition of other agencies.”
The acquisition of Smale Stover marks the sixth agency that T.W. Cooper owns. With this acquisition, T.W. Cooper has 37 employees.
T.W. Cooper Insurance has been serving Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey and Delaware since 1977. The independent insurance agency sells a variety of insurance products, including life, home, auto and health through companies that include Erie Insurance, Progressive and Travelers.
“It’s a relationship business,” Carlin said, referring to the insurance industry. “We like the sales process, forming the relationships with the client.”
