Collegiate entrepreneurs to make their pitch at Bethlehem competition

This is the third year for the Collegiate Business Pitch Summit event, but this year it is being expanded to include displays of innovative products coming from companies in the Greater Lehigh Valley and will now be called the Lehigh Valley Innovation and Collegiate Business Pitch Summit.

This year seven colleges from throughout the Lehigh Valley will be participating and competing for a top prize of $3,000.

Wayne Barz, manager of entrepreneurial services for Ben Franklin, said each of the schools has a similar competition among members of their entrepreneurial clubs on campus.

“It’s almost like a playoffs for the season for each of these teams,” he said.

Previous winners were East Stroudsburg, which developed a data security system for businesses and Penn State Lehigh Valley, which developed a web site for disabled athletes.

The Innovation and Collegiate Business Pitch Summit will be held April 25, at Ben Franklin TechVentures in Bethlehem beginning at 5 p.m.
