City Center Investment Corp. said Food Network star Robert Irvine has leased the last spot in the Downtown Allentown Market, set to open in September.
The company made the announcement in a news release Thursday, noting that Irvine will open Fresh Kitchen by Robert Irvine, a diner concept with counter seating and a full-service
bartender serving food and drinks.
Irvine will make appearances at the market several times a year, the company said.
In a statement, Irvine said Fresh Kitchen would offer seasonal, diverse dishes and that Allentown has become an increasingly popular destination for dining. Irvine is the host of the Food Network show “Restaurant: Impossible” and also hosts the TV shows “Fitness Impossible,” “A Hero’s Welcome,” Food Network’s “Restaurant Express,” “Dinner Impossible” and “Worst Cooks in America.”
The chef’s company, Irvine Restaurant Ventures, operates the full-service restaurants Fresh Kitchen at the Pentagon and Robert Irvine’s Public House at Tropicana Las Vegas.
In addition, all nine merchants at the Allentown market will host a hiring fair July 17 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the third floor of the Renaissance Allentown Hotel. The merchants plan to interview and hire cashiers, cooks, supervisors, baristas, bartenders and other positions, for full and part-time shifts, City Center said.
The indoor market will be in a 12,000-square-foot space below the Strata West apartments along the ArtsWalk, a pedestrian walkway connecting the Allentown Renaissance Hotel and PPL Center on Seventh Street with the Allentown Art Museum.
