Projects ranging from a large furniture manufacturer to a dog spa were among the winners of the inaugural Building Berks Awards & Expo held this week.
The Greater Reading Chamber Alliance established the awards this year to shine a spotlight on some of the best residential, commercial and industrial development projects completed in Berks County over the last two years.
The winners were announced at an awards ceremony and reception held at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Reading. A trade show before the event gave builders, construction suppliers, architects and engineers and real estate firms an opportunity to showcase their products and services.
Michael Kautter, president and principal architect at Kautter & Kelley Architects based in Wyomissing and a judge for Building Berks, has said architectural design is often a catalyst to reinvigorated and redefined communities.
“Berks County is perfectly situated and undeniably poised to redefine and enhance its already unique working and living environments,” Kautter said.
