Three dentists practicing in Berks County have had their licenses suspended and practice shut down; and patients are being told to get tested for Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C and HIV.
An investigation by the Pennsylvania Department of Health and the Department of State found that the Center for Family and Specialty Dentistry did not follow appropriate procedures to properly clean, disinfect, or sterilize devices at its 2642 Bernville Road office.
The Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry then temporarily suspended the dental licenses of Dr. Stephen Sulzbach, of Greenville, Mercer County, and Drs. Jana and Eric Osmolinski, of La Jolla, Calif. who practiced at the Center for Family and Specialty Dentistry.
The temporary suspensions remain in effect pending further action by the board.
The department recommended patients seen by the dentists between Dec.19, 2015 and Oct. 19, 2016 get tested for the viruses.
The department said there has been no reports of infections to date.
Concerned patients can call the Health Department 877-724-3258 for more information.
