Reading Truck Body LLC of Reading, a 60-year-old company which manufactures and installs truck bodies, has been acquired by J.B. Poindexter and Co. Inc. of Houston.
Reading Truck Body CEO Brian Nadel said he and his management team will continue to operate as an independent business unit in Reading, within JBPCO, and that customers shouldn’t notice a difference in day-to-day operations.
The new ownership should help the overall strength of Reading Truck Body, which has five other company-owned installation facilities in the Northeast under the name Reading Equipment & Distribution LLC.
“[J.B. Poindexter and Co] owns several other market leading brands in the industry,” Nadel said.
JBPCO has operating subsidiaries that make commercial truck and van bodies, step-vans, funeral coaches, limousines, pickup truck bed enclosures and other similar offerings.
“It understands the dynamics on how to grow and effectively lead these various industries,” Nadel said. ”JBPCO is very supportive of our long-term strategic growth plan, which includes expansion into new geographic markets and development of new, innovative products.”
John Poindexter, CEO and founder of JBPCO, called Reading Truck Body a strong addition to the company.
“The Reading brand is well established in the market as a leader in product quality and innovation. It is a natural fit with our portfolio …,” Poindexter said. “Reading’s work is the benchmark by which truck bodies and equipment services are measured today.”
Reading Truck Body and its subsidiary Reading Equipment & Distribution LLC have a total of 700 employees, with 625 in the Reading area.
