Vice President for College Life and Dean of Students
“My role is to care for the health and well-being of students, ensure they are supported across their identities and feel a sense of belonging in our community,” Williams explained. She oversees student life staff and facilities, and a host of experiential learning opportunities.
“Being part of students’ journeys as they explore new ideas, overcome personal challenges, and connect the dots between their in- and out-of-classroom experiences is exciting. The moment … they realize the power they have to make a difference is inspiring.”
Throughout her career, she said, “I’ve been surrounded by incredible women leaders who sought to raise one another up. The first dean I worked with taught me the value of this mutual support. She provided challenging feedback when I needed it and cheered me … along the way.”
Williams advised, “Your actions must consistently reflect your values. Bring an open, compassionate heart to the work every day. Working with college students is not for the faint of heart – it takes tenacity, empathy, grit and most importantly a desire to help students find growth and learning even in the toughest moments.”
