Las Vegas-based Allegiant will offer nonstop flights to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., from Lehigh Valley International Airport in Hanover Township, Lehigh County.
The company made the announcement this morning and will offer one-way fares starting at $69 on the new route.
The new flights begin Feb. 17 and will operate twice weekly, according to a news release. The nonstop flights will operate between LVIA and the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.
The new flights add to Allegiant’s existing service from LVIA to three Florida destinations as well as seasonal service to Myrtle Beach, Calif. The other Florida destinations are Orlando, Tampa/St. Petersburg and Punta Gorda/Fort Myers.
“It’s been three years since we added to our list of nonstop destinations, with the return of Fort Lauderdale flights being among the most popular requests by passengers at Lehigh Valley International Airport,” said Charles Everett, executive director of Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority.
