David W. Stonesifer has been named managing partner of Herbein + Co. Inc. in Wyomissing.
He will be replacing Michael J. Rowley as part of a planned transition beginning Oct. 1.
Rowley will remain with the firm as partner-in-charge of Herbein’s management advisory services group.
Stonesifer joined the firm in 1996 has been a partner for the past 11 years.
He was one of the first three interns at the firm to achieve partnership.
“As I prepare to become managing partner, I am appreciative of all that I’ve learned from our prior managing partners, Mike Rowley and Carl Herbein,” Stonesifer said. “They are landing me in charge of a great firm with a great legacy.”
As Stonesifer prepares to take on the managing partner role, he said the biggest challenge the firm faces is the same challenge many firms are facing: recruiting talent.
“It’s a struggle with all professional services firms,” he said.
He also said a generational shift is underway in many firms as older leaders retire, making way for younger leaders, like him.
The firm, which has about $35 million in annual revenue has been recognized as one of the 125 largest certified public accounting firms in the United States. It was founded by Carl D. Herbein.
Herbein employs more than 200 people in eight offices. In addition to Wyomissing, Herbein has offices in Pittsburgh, Allison Park, Greensburg, Pottstown, Allentown, Spring House and Marlton, New Jersey.
