A New York City-based digital advertising and marketing agency said it would open a video production office in Allentown.

Ruckus Marketing LLC recently launched a video production segment and plans to open an office in the former Neuweiler Brewery in Allentown in about a year, said Phil Osborne, vice president of production for Ruckus.

Osborne said the owners of Ruckus are in the final stages of planning for the project but the first part of development will be to create new office space.

Alex Friedman, president of Ruckus and Joshua Wood, CEO, own the property, which includes several buildings, Osborne said.

Several years ago, Ruckus announced plans to redevelop the former Neuweiler Brewery at 401 N. Front St. into a beer production facility. While those plans have not moved forward, construction crews have completed some demolition and site work to prep the buildings on the 4.5-acre property for commercial tenants. The brewery is still part of the campus, according to Wood.

The site is within the city’s Neighborhood Improvement Zone near the Lehigh River and close to The Waterfront, a massive mixed-use project under construction.

The NIZ features a tax incentive that has fueled more than $1 billion in construction of new buildings and renovations of existing ones.

For now, Ruckus has temporary office space in Stabler Corporate Center at 3477 Corporate Parkway, Suite 100 in Upper Saucon Township, Osborne said.

Osborne said he is looking forward to opening the new office in Allentown that would have eight employees to give people in the Lehigh Valley exposure to a New York-based agency.

“It will initially be video production, but our plans call for additional growth and potentially adding headcount in the valley around some of our other core services, depending on market conditions,” Wood said.

Ruckus offers branding and web development services in addition to marketing campaigns, Osborne said.

“I’ve been in the industry eight to 10 years,” Osborne said. “I just love the aspect of storytelling. Video is a massive part of marketing now. I love the process of helping a company create a visual brand identity with video production.”
