The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board will hold a public input hearing March 4 in the Caernarvon Township Building in Berks County to collect testimony on the application to build a Category 4 casino in the township.

Penn National filed an application late last year to build the Hollywood Casino Morgantown on a 36-acre plot of land in Caernarvon.

Plans for the $111 million casino include an 80,000-square-foot building that would feature 750 slot machines, 30 table games, a full-sports betting lounge, plus room for 10 more table games, according to a release from Penn National.

Other amenities include a restaurant, entertainment lounge and food court.

The state approved a law in 2017 to auction licenses for 10 so-called mini casinos, which can house 300 to 750 slot machines and up to 40 table games. The mini casinos are intended for the state’s second-tier markets and cannot be built within 25 miles of one of the state’s 12 established casinos.

The public input hearing is required by the Pennsylvania gaming law and must be held within the local municipality in which the proposed casino would be located,

The purpose of the hearing is to provide a forum for individuals to voice their support or opposition to the proposed casino, and learn more about the project.

Those wishing to speak at the hearing can register at www.gamingcontrolboard.pa.gov, and click the "Penn National Casino Berks Public Input Hearing" link under the QuickLinks section of the home page.

The deadline to register to speak at the hearing is noon on Friday, March 1.
