Tenants cite increased visibility, proximity, as draws to City Center

YWCA Allentown and TWG Security are the two newest tenants to lease space at 702 Hamilton St. in Allentown.

TWG Security provides installation and service of video surveillance, access control, intrusion and other related security solutions.

“We were outgrowing our current space in Emmaus and we thought it would be a good opportunity to move our sales and management personnel to Allentown,” said Mark Cernese, CEO of TWG Security.

TWG Security’s new location, at more than 4,200 square feet, sits at Seventh and Hamilton streets.

Cernese said the firm will keep the Emmaus location as a center of operations and wanted to expand to Allentown to be a part of the economic development happening in the area.

NAI Summit’s Sarah Finney-Miller represented TWG Security, in their search to find an additional office location in the Lehigh Valley, said Jarrett Laubach, director of leasing for City Center Investment Corp., which owns the building. With their original location in Emmaus, which they still occupy, TWG Security was looking to expand their offices in a more centrally located position throughout the region.

TWG Security occupies space where the law firm Davison & McCarthy was, said Laubach. The law firm grew out of that space and moved into Two City Center at 645 Hamilton St., another office building owned by City Center.

In addition, YWCA Allentown leased 2,318 square-feet on the ground floor of the building and starts serving clients on Jan. 2. The move will put the organization closer to the center of the downtown, said Sarah Barrett, executive director of YWCA Allentown.

“It’s also first floor space which is really nice. It offers more visibility,” Barrett said.

The organization is still at 1101 Hamilton St. in Allentown where it occupies about 1,500 square feet.

The new space is bigger and allows the organization to expand its Perfect Fit for Working Women program by an additional 800 square feet, she said. This program advocates for survivors of gender-based violence and runs the Perfect Fit Resale Boutique at Three City Center at 515 Hamilton St.

The move also puts YWCA Allentown closer to the boutique, which sells gently used upscale women’s clothing and accessories to benefit its programs, she added.

“We are excited to collaborate with other businesses and organizations,” Barrett said.

YWCA Allentown will move into space once occupied by Michael Baker International, an engineering firm that moved into Two City Center a few years ago, Laubach said.

Often, firms that sign leases at City Center buildings grow into other buildings in the portfolio, he added.
