T.R. Burns is hoping to draw in both foodies and geeks to his new restaurant on Bethlehem’s South Side, which is having a soft opening today.

The restaurant, called Food Geeks, is for people who like to geek out on food, or just about anything, Burns said.

“I’m a geek and I love food and I love computers and I love geeky things,” Burns said. “So this is a location for all the nerdy people.”

This is Burn’s second restaurant, he also runs a soul food restaurant, called Hot Plate Soul Kitchen, in Bethlehem.

“This is the kind of food that we eat when we don’t eat that,” he said.

Food Geeks serves what Burns called “geeked up” versions of food like burgers, wings, grilled cheese sandwiches, tater tots, snacks and soup. There’s even some vegan selections like vegan hot wings.

All of his offerings can be found on his menu, which also features the faces of some of his favorite pop culture geeks, from Steven Urkel to Screech.

Burns said he wants people to be able to find comfort food quickly and hopes to become a popular lunch spot for busy students and workers on the South Side, as well as to draw in food lovers from around the Lehigh Valley.

Food Geeks is at 129 E. Third S., Bethlehem. For more information call 610-419-4304.
