Area businesses thank veterans with Veterans Day giveaways

U.S. veterans have given a lot to their country. Facing danger, injury and spending time away from their families so they could fight for all our freedom.

It goes without saying that giving them a nice hot cup of coffee, or maybe some free hot wings on Veterans Day is the least we can do to say thank you for keeping our country safe.

To be sure, plenty of business both local and national are stepping up to offer special treats, services and offers as a way of giving back to those who’ve served their country – or are still serving.

Here’s a partial list of some of the businesses local veterans and active service members can go to for a special Veterans Day thank you.

Applebee’s has a national promotion where it will be offering veterans and active duty military a free meal from a special menu on Nov. 12. Proof of service is required.

Arooga’s, new to the Lehigh Valley, with a restaurant that opened this summer on Route 100 in Fogelsville, has been a staple in the Central Pennsylvania sports bar scene for some time. It’s offering all veterans and active duty military to a free meal from a select menu on Nov. 12, at all of its locations.

Bar Louie, which has a restaurant in the Promenade Shops at Saucon Valley in Center Valley will give veterans and active military a free flatbread or burger on Nov. 11.

BJ’s Restaurant, which has a location in the Hamilton Crossings in Trexlertown, is offering veterans and current military a complimentary entree up to $12.95, plus a free Dr. Pepper, by presenting a military ID or proof of service on Nov. 12. Also, diners can contribute to give veterans a free ‘Pizookie’ desert. Veterans can claim the desert online throughout the month of November.

Bounce U, which has locations in Allentown and Easton, is offering free admission to veterans and their families Veterans Day Weekend with I.D.

Buffalo Wild Wings, which has locations in Whitehall, Lower Nazareth, Quakertown, Mechanicsburg, Harrisburg and York is offering a free order of traditional or boneless wings and a side of fries at all participating U.S. locations on Nov. 11.

Chili’s Grill and Bar is offering veterans and active duty military a free meal off a special menu on Nov. 11.

Dunkin’ Donuts, will give veterans and active duty military a free donut on Nov. 11.

Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt will offer a free six-ounce frozen yogurt on Nov. 11 to all veterans with I.D. or in uniform. There are Menchies in Allentown and Bethlehem.

The Mill in Bethlehem, an indoor fun center, is offering a free game of laser tag or miniature golf to all veterans with I.D. over the Veterans Day Weekend.

PJ Whelihan’s, which has restaurants in South Whitehall, Orefield, Bethlehem Township, Reading, Oaks, Lehighton the South Philly area, is offering a free 10-piece order of its famous hot wings to all veterans and active duty military on Nov. 12.

Red Lobster, which has locations nationally including Whitehall, Pottstown, Bartonsville, Harrisburg and Wyomissing, will offer veterans, active duty military and reservists a free appetizer or dessert from its select Veterans Day menu. To receive offer, show a valid military ID. The offer is good Nov. 11 and 12.

Shammy Shine Car Wash, which has locations in Allentown, Bethlehem, Easton, Palmer Township and Phillipsburg, N.J. is offering a free car wash for veterans and active service members on Nov. 12.

Sheetz, which has locations throughout Pennsylvania will offer veterans and active duty military a free six-inch turkey sub and regular soft drink on Nov. 11. Free car washes will also be available at locations where they are offered.

And don’t forget that cup of Joe for our G.I. Joes and Janes.

Starbucks, will give a free tall brewed coffee to veterans, active duty service members, reservists and their spouses on Nov. 11.
