Off The Clock: United Way partners with businesses to give back to communities

Off the Clock loading
United Way of Berks County held its annual Day of Caring on Sept. 12. Nearly 550 volunteers participated in 40 community projects throughout Berks County. Members of United Way’s Emerging Leaders United spent the day at Amanda Stout Elementary engaging with children from various ages and also assisted students in a cleanup project around the school’s neighborhood. Volunteers from Santander and The Reading Eagle assisted the YMCA Central Branch in painting a gym, while volunteers from East Penn Manufacturing volunteered in projects at the Salvation Army. Pictured from left: Julie Santers, Santander; Tara Kozak, Santander; Ron Kozak, Reading Eagle; Anne Chubb, Reading Eagle; Sarah Reynolds, Reading Eagle; and Bill Lobb, Reading Eagle.
