Barry Isett & Associates, Inc., an engineering firm, based in Upper Macungie Township, said it opened its eighth Pennsylvania office today at 420 N. Park Road, Suite 202, in Wyomissing.
An employee-owned company founded in 1977, Barry Isett has additional offices in Hazleton, Wilkes-Barre, Phoenixville, Stroudsburg, Mechanicsburg and Doylestown.
The firm appointed Mary Himmelberger, Isett’s grant writer and a Berks County native, as office manager of the new branch. Since joining the firm in 2015, Himmelberger has helped clients achieve more than $15 million in grant funding for a variety of projects.
Himmelberger said the firm looked at a couple of different sites in Berks and chose Wyomissing because of the large amount of development in the area. In addition, employees have the ability to walk to nearby places during lunch, she added.
“We liked the fact that it’s walkable,” Himmelberger said. “Wyomissing has a huge development project going on right now that’s two blocks from our office,” she said, referring to The Vanity Fair project, which is the redevelopment of the former Berkshire Knitting Mills.
The Wyomissing office takes up 2,500 square feet on the second floor of the building. It will have six employees with room to grow, she said.
The firm also serves as the municipal engineer and code service provider for the boroughs of Fleetwood and Topton and helps the borough of Kutztown with code services.
Isett’s services include: civil, structural, forensic, geotechnical, municipal, mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering; landscape design; special inspections; survey services; code services; environmental services; and construction/project management services.
