Women2Women rebrands, launches new program

By ,

Women2Women, a networking and career development program for women in Berks County, has rebranded and released a new schedule of events for 2018-2019.

The organization’s launch event on Oct. 2 will feature keynote speaker Janice Kaplan, former editor at Parade and TV Guide, television producer at “Good Morning, America” and author of 14 books, including the New York Times bestseller “The Gratitude Diaries.”

Kaplan will speak about her latest book, “How Luck Happens.” Luck is more than a random event; it can be cultivated, Kaplan says. Her talk will cover how one can create luck and will include examples from top executives and celebrities she has interviewed over the years.

Women2Women was created in 2011 by Karen Marsdale, senior vice president of special programs at the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance, and other community leaders to provide a platform for women to develop personally and professionally, as well as to grow more women leaders.

Since its founding, the organization has built a following of more than 6,000 members in the community. Women2Women offers programs such as Lean In circles and De Mujer a Mujer, which develops Latina women professionals.

After taking a year to evaluate Women2Women, which included surveys and focus groups, officials decided to refocus and reinvigorate its programming.

“Each session is reflective of our mission to present speakers who are relevant to our mission to grow more women leaders in our region,” Marsdale said.

“I think we’ve hit a home run with our offerings,” she said.

Rachael Romig, special programs coordinator for the GRCA, said as the workplace changes, so do the needs and wants of the workforce.

“We will always meet with a purpose; we will always create new possibilities for our members; and we want all women in the community to find and realize their full potential,” Romig said.
