Grand View Health in Sellersville said it has formed a new alliance with The University of Pennsylvania Health System in Philadelphia to develop joint clinical care and possibly develop new sites for ambulatory care.
Jo Ann Hart, senior director of strategic marketing for Grand View, said the hospital has already been partnering with Penn Medicine.
Since April, Grand View has been a member of the Penn Cancer Network, which allows patients in Bucks and Montgomery counties to receive care, diagnosis and treatment at Grand View. If more advanced care is needed, the hospital can connect patients with Penn for its expertise, but then continue treatment at their home hospital.
“We found this to be so beneficial to our patients we tried to find ways to mold this partnership in similar ways,” Hart said.
In an extension of the existing relationship, Hart said Penn Medicine and Grand View Health will work together to develop specialty programs in complex areas including surgery, orthopedics and trauma.
They will also explore the development of new ambulatory care sites.
Hart said the alliance helps Grand View maintain its goal of remaining an independent hospital and to continue to provide patient care.
“But, we know over time it will be necessary to make partnerships like this to provide the best care for or patients,” she said.
Hart said the new alliance is effective immediately, but noted that it will evolve over time.
