Stevens & Lee/Griffin, which has offices in Reading and Allentown, will combine with a Philadelphia-area law firm to create a multidisciplinary firm that focuses on employee stock ownership plans.
Steven & Lee said it reached an agreement in principle to combine with Steiker, Greenapple & Fusco, a five-office law firm headquartered in Bala Cynwyd, and its affiliated company, SES ESOP Strategies Inc.
The new company, SES ESOP Strategies, a Stevens & Lee/Griffin Co., is expected to be operational on Oct. 1.
“This combination will create a significantly enhanced group that will provide value-added legal, consulting and investment banking services from one platform,” said Ernie Choquette, president and CEO of Stevens & Lee.
Jim Steiker, founding partner and chairman of Steiker, Greenapple & Fusco and chairman and CEO of SES ESOP Strategies Inc., said Stevens & Lee “brings significant depth and breadth to our work and we believe this is a terrific platform to continue our mission of creating more employee ownership in America.”
Steiker will serve as president and CEO of SES ESOP Strategies, a Stevens & Lee/Griffin Co. and Ed Renenger, chair of Stevens & Lee’s ESOP practice, will serve as chief operating officer.
Stevens & Lee/Griffin is a multidisciplinary professional services company that includes Stevens & Lee, one of the 200 largest law firms in the country, Griffin Financial Group, and a variety of consulting businesses.
The company will add offices, although not in the Reading and Allentown area, and increase the number of employees, said Jeanna Hahn, a spokeswoman.
