Reading-based pest control company continues expansion, acquires company in Seattle market

By ,

Reading-based Rentokil Steritech, one of the country’s largest pest control companies, continues its expansion in the Northwest with the acquisition of a Washington company.

Rentokil acquired Pratt Pest Management of Marysville, Wash., which was established in 1991 and serves commercial and residential customers in the booming Seattle metro area.

Dana Pratt, president of Pratt Pest Management, decided to retire and sell the business.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Rentokil has been acquiring pest control companies across the United States the past year, including three since January. The division of Rentokil North America generates about $1 billion in revenue and employs about 150 people at its Reading headquarters and more than 4,500 total.

Rentokil Steritech is part of Rentokil North America, a division of Rentokil Initial PLC, headquartered in Camberley, England.

In 2006, the company bought Ehrlich Pest Control of Reading for a reported $142 million. Ehrlich was the fourth largest pest control company in the U.S. at the time.
