Walmart hosted a grand reopening Friday morning for its Bethlehem Township store off Route 191.

The Arkansas-based retailer, which opened the store, No. 3563, in 2002, remodeled it with wider aisles and expanded product lines and departments.

Adam Vutech, store manager, said the Bethlehem Township store once was a Bradlees before Walmart took it over.

The 82,000-square-foot store employs about 200 workers. It took about four months to complete its remodel, Vutech said, in which Walmart invested $4 million.

Jetton Construction Inc., based in Berkley, Calif., completed the remodel.

The store updated several departments and created a brighter, livelier atmosphere.

“It’s an updated more user-friendly electronics department, more community-friendly assortment of items available. There’s an expanded tool selection, home goods,” Vutech said. “We offer a more open area to shop, a more navigable area for customers.”

At the grand reopening, Walmart officials presented grant checks to several municipal and nonprofit organizations in the community, while the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce provided a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Walmart also honored the 17 employees who have been working at the store since it opened in 2002.
