Four schools in the Greater Lehigh Valley made Princeton Review's latest guide, The Best 384 Colleges.
• Lafayette College.
• Lehigh University.
• Moravian College.
• Muhlenberg College.
Lehigh University in Bethlehem was rated No. 1 in “best science lab facilities” and “lots of beer.” Students at Lafayette College in Easton noted the beautiful campus, its “top-quality engineering education” and “your classic liberal arts college with a twist.”
The guide said, “Students who attend Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pa., are welcomed into a ‘close-knit’ community and are privy to ‘a well-rounded liberal arts education.’” It was ranked No. 9 by students for “best college theater.”
Bryon Grigsby, president of Moravian College in Bethlehem, said the school’s students and alumni know “what a special place Moravian is to go to college.”
Grigsby said the 2019 Princeton Review guide’s acknowledgment “is a nice way to validate those feelings and hopefully introduce the college to some future Greyhounds in the process.”
Founded in 1742, Moravian College is the sixth oldest college in the United States, and many parts of the campus retain its historic charm. The college received a 90 out of 99 for quality of life, among other factors.
The Best 384 Colleges rankings are based on online student surveys of 138,000 students, with an average of 359 student surveys per campus, at 384 top colleges that include a wide representation by region, size, selectivity and character. The survey has more than 80 questions in four main sections.
The guide has been published annually since 1992 and includes detailed profiles of the colleges with rating scores in eight categories, as well as ranking lists of top 20 schools in 62 colleges.
