Copperhead Grille plans to build an outdoor patio with a bar to extend its dining options at its Upper Saucon Township location off Route 378. The expansion would double the size of the one-acre site.
The sports bar and restaurant, which has another location on Airport Road in Hanover Township, Lehigh County, will also bring more parking with the expansion.
Co-owner Michael Dontas said he would add 60 parking spaces and bring about 90 seats to an outdoor patio that would include a bar, televisions and a fire pit. The restaurant plans to use the outdoor seating until winter with the use of outdoor heaters, he added.
“We want to start the patio in the spring of 2019,” Dontas said. “We are hoping to have it fully complete by the summer.”
The owners bought vacant property next to the lot and hired local contractor Alfero Co. of Easton to build an expanded parking lot, which should be finished in about a month.
Dontas said the restaurant wanted to add parking because its lot often fills up and if people drive by and see a full parking lot, they might not visit. Customers often park on Bethlehem Pike and elsewhere if they cannot find parking on-site.
“We more so did it for convenience,” Dontas said. “We feel it will increase our business.”
Alfero also will build the patio. Dontas said he hired Howard Kulp Architects of Allentown to design the project.
