When JoycePayne Partners formed 25 years ago, it was one of the first fee-only financial planning firms in the area. While the firm has grown and evolved in those 25 years, it’s now undertaking one of its biggest changes with a new name and leadership.
The Bethlehem firm now will be known as Agili, a Latin word from which the word agility is derived that reflects adaptability and nimbleness.
The firm was founded by Michael Joyce with one part-time staffer, a staff that has grown to 25 when you include its office in Richmond, Va.
“We have a very deep bench, really a team of experts, and they are people who have been with the firm for a while,” said Joyce, whose team of financial planners manages more than $715 million in assets.
To recognize the contribution of senior staffers, some have taken on new titles and roles.
Joyce will continue to serve as president and will oversee all firm functions.
Marilee Falco, a principal and financial strategist, will lead the firm’s Bethlehem office.
Jamie Malone, a principal and financial strategist, will lead the firm’s financial planning team.
Cynthia Joyce, chief operating officer, will oversee financial, budgeting, human resources and office operations for the firm.
Van Nguyen, a principal and client services manager, will lead the firm’s client services team.
Michael Joyce said part of the effort is to take the focus off of him and more onto the firm as a whole. While he has no plans to retire anytime soon, it was time to start thinking of the legacy of the firm beyond him.
“I plan on working for many decades, but I’m not always going to be the face of the firm,” Joyce said. “It was a difficult decision. There is good will in my name. But, after 25 years it really is about how our whole team built the firm, and they will continue to do so.”
