Capsule manufacturer to join Allentown incubator

By ,

An early stage capsule manufacturer will occupy space at the Bridgeworks Enterprise Center in Allentown as it prepares to expand its capabilities.

TRuCapSol (Time Release Capsule Solutions) will move to the incubator program in a 1,600-square-foot-space at the center on July 1, said Anthony Durante, program manager at Bridgeworks Center, operated by Allentown Economic Development Corp.

“We had a combination of things that worked out well for them,” Durante said. “They are the kind of companies we are looking for. They are doing high-tech work in the manufacturing sector.”

The Allentown facility has the infrastructure such as electric, water and gas many companies need, he said. The company plans to produce test batches of its product and scale up from there.

The company started a lab at Ben Franklin Technology Partners of Northeastern Pennsylvania at Lehigh University’s Mountaintop campus in Bethlehem, where the company launched its research and development efforts at the TechVentures incubator, said Jiten Dihora, vice president of technology at TRuCapSol.

TRuCapSol is a spinoff of Spray-Tek Inc. and will continue to have a presence at Ben Franklin.

Dihora described TRuCapSol as a company that works in the controlled-release systems space.

“We use household products each day, and often we want active fragrance release over the right time, in the right quantities, in the duration of time required,” Dihora said. “We develop these things as particles.”

These particles have an active element that’s encapsulated, he added.

“Our mission is to really improve the performance of our customers’ products by developing control-release technologies,” Dihora said. “We will do research at both locations, but Bridgeworks allows us to produce larger quantities for the customer who needs it.”

The company’s initial product line will focus on the consumer goods space, specifically laundry products that include detergents and fabric softeners.

TruCapSol will have six employees at its Bridgeworks site, he said.
