More than 400 businesses helped United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley raise a record-breaking more than $15 million during its recently wrapped up 2017-18 campaign, taking in about $3 million more than the prior year's campaign.
Bill Spence, president and CEO of PPL Corp. of Allentown, and his wife, Denise, were this year’s campaign co-chairs.
“I am so proud and thankful for the giving spirit partners demonstrate year after year,” Bill Spence said.
Besides the businesses, 19,000 people contributed to the campaign, according to the organization.
All money raised in the Greater Lehigh Valley is invested into programming in Northampton, Lehigh and Carbon counties.
David Shaffer, co-president of Just Born in Bethlehem, and his wife, Sue, have been named co-chairs for the 2018-19 campaign.
A number of businesses and professionals were honored by the United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley for their participation in this year’s campaign.
Air Products received the Live United Award.
St. Luke’s University Health Network received the Campaign Chairman’s Award.
Miller-Keystone Blood Center received the Air Products Leonard Pool Impact Award.
Rob Franklin of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 375 received the Labor Achievement Award.
ASR Media Productions received the Community Building Award.
