Cedar Crest College unveils new nursing lab
Cedar Crest College in Allentown unveiled its new $1.8 million nursing lab Thursday in the college's Hamilton Boulevard Building.
The newly renovated lab is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, two high-fidelity simulation rooms, a high-fidelity operating room, a preoperative consultation room and an advanced health assessment lab and debriefing room.
Wendy Robb, associate professor and chair of the department of nursing at the college, said the new technologies will better prepare students for real-time scenarios when they start their careers.
“The simulators provide real-life experiences for the students and the new equipment provides them better hands-on experience to learn,” Robb said.
The new nursing suite demonstrates the college’s commitment to its advancement of the nursing program, which recently expanded with the addition of doctoral degree in three areas of specialization: family nursing, acute adult/gerontology and nurse anesthesiology.
The nurse anesthesiology program, which is set to launch this fall, will be the first and only nurse anesthesia program in the Lehigh Valley.
“We’re very excited about what we’re doing here, and our students are well-equipped with the best resources to learn and advance into their careers,” Robb said.
