The date and time have been set for a public hearing for the renewal of the operator's license for Sands Bethworks LLC, which runs the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem.
Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board officials will be in Bethlehem on April 5 to gather evidence, including public comment, on the renewal of the license.
The hearing will begin at 10 a.m. at Bethlehem City Hall, 10 E. Church St.
Comments can be made in person or faxed or emailed to the board.
Those wishing to comment can schedule a time or get information on submitting written statements at www.gamingcontrolboard.pa.gov.
The deadline for registration to speak at the hearing is noon April 3.
A second hearing will be held in Harrisburg. The date and time have not yet been set.
At that hearing, Sands’ operators will be given the opportunity to “demonstrate, among other things, its good character, honesty and integrity; compliance with its statement of conditions; tax revenue generated; jobs created; amenities added since the last renewal; success in implementing its diversity plan; and involvement in the surrounding communities.”
Casinos are up for license renewal every five years. The Bethlehem casino opened in 2009.
