Lehigh-Northampton Airport Authority saw a nearly 12 percent increase in passenger traffic last month at Lehigh Valley International Airport, also known as ABE.

The organization based in Hanover Township, Lehigh County, said 53,177 passengers traveled through the airport in January, an 11.9 percent increase from January 2017.

In 2017, the airport attracted 692,154 passengers, the highest level since 2012, the airport authority said.

“While passenger traffic is trending upward at ABE, we continue to pursue new opportunities for growth and enhancements to the customer experience,” said Thomas Stoudt, interim executive director of LNAA, in a statement.

“The combination of additional flights to our leisure destinations aboard Allegiant and strong performance from American, Delta and United has put ABE on a positive track to start the year.”
