The architectural firm for a $130 million science center project in downtown Easton will present a completed facility and exhibits master plan to the public at Easton City Hall at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

EHDD Architects of San Francisco will present the plan for Da Vinci Science Center’s Science City at the corner of South Third Street and Larry Holmes Drive.

Since its partnership with the city of Easton, Da Vinci Science Center raised more than $50 million toward its $130 million fundraising goal, said Mike Litzenberger, marketing and communications manager for Da Vinci Science Center.

Northampton County has committed $50,000 for a market research study and $250,000 in the 2018 county budget for the project. The county originally committed $10 million for the project but rescinded the commitment.

The plan addresses site considerations for the facility and outlines the major programs, exhibits and visitor services that will create an inviting, exciting and inspiring experience for visitors, Litzenberger said.

“Easton is a pedestrian city,” he said. “We will work with the city of Easton to develop a comprehensive parking plan that provides ample parking for visitors and encourages people to walk the city and patronize downtown restaurants and shops.”

Officials will conduct the meeting in City Council chambers at 123 S. Third St. in Easton.

The plan originally had a major aquarium, but that was scuttled in favor of a nature dome.
