Hotels are changing to meet the needs of today's leisure traveler and corporate client and now feature everything from fully equipped luxury kitchens to roomy living quarters with 55-inch screen televisions linked to smart-streaming app services.
One of the Greater Lehigh Valley’s newest hotels to feature these amenities is hosting a grand opening 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, with a ribbon cutting at 5:30 p.m.
The 114-room Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott recently opened off Route 100 in Upper Macungie Township and features a corporate traveler-themed hotel with 3,076 square feet of meeting space for gatherings of up to 120 people.
Amenities include a pool with a giant water slide, fitness center, the 24/7 Corner Market, valet laundry service, spa-like showers and complimentary Wi-Fi, as well as fax and copy services.
About 150 people signed up to attend the grand opening event, said Natalie Blumberg, director of sales and marketing for Fairfield Inn & Suites Allentown West.
She said the event is a way for the hotel to thank corporate clients, local partners and vendors, as well as the community.
The hotel will sell locally crafted beer and wine, and its pool has been a hit with everyone, Blumberg said.
Star Hospitality Group, a hospitality management company based in Upper Macungie Township, owns the hotel.
H&H Construction Companies of Wyomissing constructed the four-story building.
