Commercial park in Hamburg to get $1M gas pipeline

By ,

Hamburg Commerce Park in Perry Township will get 17,000 feet of a natural gas pipeline.

Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf announced that Kings Real Estate Group A LLC was approved for a $1 million grant to install the pipeline, which will bring natural gas to about 33 businesses and 20 residences.

The total project will cost $2 million.

The grant is one of two the state awarded in its new Pipeline Investment Program through the Commonwealth Financing Authority to support redevelopment projects.

Established in 2016, the pipeline program provides grants to build the last few miles of natural gas distribution lines to business parks and existing manufacturing and industrial enterprises.

Applicants for funding include businesses, economic development organizations, hospitals, municipalities and school districts.

Wolf said one of the factors businesses consider when considering or expanding into another state is whether the site has energy infrastructure to power their growth.
