Though summer is about five months – and 50 degrees – away, one of the largest seasonal employers in the region is ready to hire more than 3,000 workers.

Dorney Park and Wildwater Kingdom in South Whitehall Township said it would hire more than 3,000 seasonal employees this year.

Kristen Hager, director of marketing and sales for Dorney Park, said this year’s seasonal hiring effort would be on par to previous years and fairly close to last year’s figures.

The park will host a hiring party in the Good Time Theater near the main entrance on Jan. 13 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for applicants and returning workers.

She said the park is looking to hire local workers and will have additional entertainment options throughout the season. The park will hire employees 16 and older and pay $8.50 to $11 per hour.

Including training, the positions usually run from March through November, she said.

Dorney Park will open its gates May 4 for its 135th operating season.
