Univest Bank and Trust Co., based in Souderton, has opened a new branch in Bethlehem.

The branch at 574 Main St. is the financial institution’s second location in the Lehigh/Northampton County area. Univest also has a location in the Hamilton Crossings shopping center in Trexlertown.

”While we have been active in the Lehigh Valley through commercial lending, wealth management and insurance areas for nearly nine years, we are excited to continue our expansion in the Lehigh Valley with our second financial center in the heart of Bethlehem,” said Jeff Schweitzer, president and CEO, Univest Corp.

Mike Keim, president of Univest Bank, said the location was chosen because it is in an urban area that is a destination with a lot of foot traffic.

The financial center features Univest’s branch model focused on an improved customer experience that partners personal bankers with technology solutions.

“We don’t believe we should go all technology,” said Keim. “A lot of people are going in for consultative help and having a knowledgeable staff is a must for us.”

The branch will be managed by Lori Knerr.
