A $12 million road reconstruction project in Fleetwood begun in 2016 is entering its final phase, but will require the temporary closure of a highly traveled road.
Beginning Jan. 3, a section of Main Street/Fleetwood Lyons Road will close and be detoured until the project is completed in November 2018, according to Alfred A. Picca Jr., assistant district executive for construction, at the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
The average daily traffic on Main Street is 14,336 vehicles.
The project involves the reconstruction of Route 662, north of Poplar Road to south of Schiery Road, and Park Road, Main Street and Fleetwood Lyons Road, from the Fleetwood Community Park to Dryville Road.
Route 662 will remain open.
Road-Con of West Chester, the general contractor, plans to upgrade utilities and traffic signals on Main Street at Richmond Street and Franklin Street.
Other improvements include new curbing, sidewalks, ramps, signs and pavement markings.
